Col Seth Hathaway
Seth Hathaway is in his thirteenth year at Prince Avenue and tenth as head of school. Since joining Prince, he has shepherded several initiatives to advance the school: employed the highest number of Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) “Master Teachers” of any of the 163 GISA affiliate schools in the state; expanded on-campus high school dual enrollment classes to over forty hours, and increased need-based financial aid by more than 275 percent making a Prince education a possibility for more families. He has led two strategic planning processes with the most recent plan, PACS 2030, documenting a clear vision for the school, and Prince Avenue has been voted the best private school in Athens, Georgia, for five years.
Under his leadership, the school has constructed a 4.2-million-dollar middle school building, acquired an additional 14 acres of land to expand the school’s athletic complex, and completed multimillion-dollar expansions and renovations to the school’s library, cafeteria, and athletic facilities. Currently, the school is constructing a 10.2-million-dollar competition gymnasium. During the past five years, the school has won multiple region championships in fine arts and athletics as well as ten state championships in multiple sports.
Colonel Hathaway holds a doctorate in educational leadership and is an accreditation chairman with both the Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Association of Christian Schools International. Previously, he was an assistant head of school, high school principal, and advanced placement classroom teacher. During his first career, he served over twenty years on active duty in the Marine Corps, and he and his wife of thirty-five years, Tracy, have educated all three of their children in Christian schools.
