Prince Avenue Christian School is a ministry of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. All PACS Board members are active members of PABC and may serve up to six years of continuous service.
Joe Taylor - Chair
Joe Taylor has an Applied Behavior Analysis degree from Middle Georgia College and a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Georgia. He is the managing director and founding partner of The Avenue Wealth Management Group and a senior wealth advisor. Mr. Taylor is married to Hayley, and they have two children who graduated from Prince (’16 and ’18). Mr. Taylor began his work with the board in 1999.
Ashley Barnett - Vice Chair
Ashley Barnett graduated from Georgia Southern University where she earned a degree in public relations and a minor in speech communications. While at GSU, Mrs. Barnett was assistant director of public relations and promotions for WVGS The Buzz Statesboro radio station, publicist for Society of America, a member of Southern Image, and a Student Government Association Senator. She was also the president of Kappa Delta Sorority where she received awards for Outstanding Leadership and Sister of the Year. Mrs. Barnett went on to serve as the director of marketing and public relations and media relations for Washington-Wilkes County, Georgia. She is currently a stay-at-home mom and volunteers at the family business, Barnett Southern Corporation. Mrs. Barnett is married to Ames, and they have three children all of whom are enrolled at Prince. Mrs. Barnett began her service on the board in 2022.
Karin Usry - Secretary
Karin Usry is the director of board relations at the University of Georgia Foundation. She graduated from the UGA with a Bachelor of Science degree in education and was part of two NCAA championship gymnastics teams in 1998 and 1999. Mrs. Usry is also honored to be the first collegiate gymnast to score a perfect 40 in all-around competition. Mrs. Usry is married to Mike, and they have two children who attend Prince. She joined the board in 2021.
Brian Elrod
Brian Elrod graduated from Luther Rice Bible College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in apologetics. He is currently the principal/broker at NAI Elrod Group, in Athens, Georgia. NAI Elrod Group is a real estate team specializing in commercial leasing and sales, investment sales, and commercial development. Mr. Elrod is married to Kim, and they have four children two of whom are currently enrolled and two of whom are graduates (’22 and ’23). Mr. Elrod served on the Prince Board of Trustees from 2016-2022 and as Chairman of the Board from 2018-2020.
Billy Henderson
A graduate of Georgia Southern University, Billy Henderson is currently the sales representative for Thomas Concrete in Athens, one of the leading suppliers of high-quality ready-mixed concrete in the southeast. Mr. Henderson is married to Terri, and they have two children, one of whom currently attends Prince and one graduate (’19). Mr. Henderson began his service on the board in 2022.
Tommy Murray
Tommy Murray graduated from the University of Georgia in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in middle school education and in 2001 with a Master in Education in instructional technology. He is currently the senior director of talent development for Prison Fellowship where he leads a team to develop curriculum, training, performance support, and coaching experiences for volunteers, staff, prisoners, and their families. Mr. Murray is married to Cheryl, and they have two children currently enrolled at Prince. He began his service on the board in 2020.
Stephanie Powell
Stephanie Powell is a University of Georgia graduate with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, a master’s degree in educational psychology, and a specialist degree in educational leadership. Mrs. Powell is currently the vice president of Organizational Development at Joe Powell and Associates, Inc. She previously served as a teacher and assistant principal with Gwinnett County Public Schools. Mrs. Powell currently serves on the advisory board for her sorority at UGA. Her love for the Bulldogs runs deep, and she has served the university in a variety of volunteer roles including the UGA Alumni Association Board of Directors and Executive Committee, the College of Education Alumni Board, and the Redcoat Band Alumni Association. Mrs. Powell is married to Chad, and they have three children, one of whom is enrolled at Prince and two Prince graduates (both ’24). She began her service on the board in 2022.
DeAnn Harmon-Smith
Dr. DeAnn Harmon-Smith is a licensed family general dentist who has been in private practice since 1999. She graduated magna cum laude with a degree in chemistry from North Georgia College in 1992 and obtained her Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree with honors from the Medical College of Georgia in 1996. In 2002, Dr. Smith is married to Jeff, and they currently have three children one of whom graduated from Prince (’23) and two currently enrolled in the school. She joined the board in 2020.
Kevin Turner
Kevin Turner received a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences/consumer economics from the University of Georgia and a master of business administration degree from Augusta State University. He is currently the operations program manager for Viasat Global Communications. Mr. Turner is married to Brandy, and they have three daughters, all of whom attend Prince. Mr. Turner joined the board in 2022.
Thomas Wells
Dr. Thomas Wells graduated from Georgia College and State University with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in chemistry. He then received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Wells has worked as an internist at Hawthorne Medical Associates and most recently at Piedmont Hawthorne since 1997. Dr. Wells is married to Amy, and they have three children who have graduated from Prince (’16, ’18, and ’21) and one currently enrolled in the school. Dr. Wells began his service on the board in 2012.
Andrew Womack
Andrew Womack received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education teaching and coaching from Arkansas State University and his Master of Education degree in educational leadership and administration from Trevecca Nazarene University. Mr. Womack previously served as the assistant principal of Tipton-Rosemark Academy from 2012-2018, a private Christian school in Millington, Tennessee. He has been the owner of Womack Allstate Insurance Agency in Athens, Georgia since 2018. Mr. Womack is married to Morgan, and they have three children, two of whom attend Prince. He began his service on the board in 2024.
