Requirements to participate:
- Be a high school junior or senior and meet TMU/Point University admission requirements
- Have a 3.0 overall GPA or higher
- Be on the “college prep” or “college prep with distinction” diploma track
- Earn an 88 or higher in the previous year/semester subject area course
Points to remember:
- These classes are either in-house or on-line.
- In-house courses are taught on PACS campus during normal school day using our teachers as “adjunct TMU/Point University professors.” These courses show up in FACTS and parents have access to current grades at all times.
- Dual enrollment classes are taught online by TMU/Point University professors. They direct all aspects (assignments, due dates, grades, lockdown browsers, IT requirements, etc.) of online courses. Classes and grades for online courses will not appear on your PACS FACTS schedule or report card. Grades will appear on student transcript only.
- The grade you earn in your Dual enrollment course will count for high school credit and college credit and the grade will go on both transcripts. Grades earned in Dual Enrollment courses will also count towards your high school GPA, college GPA and towards initial high school HOPE/ Zell Miller eligibility.
- Dual Enrollment classes are college-level courses which offer you the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit at the same time. This is a college class therefore; a keen work ethic is needed. Make sure you are ready for the demanding work a college class will require. Please remember that for most students…the high school component of the dual courses are required for graduation from Prince Avenue. Students who fail to meet the course requirements will jeopardize their graduation status.
- The Dual Enrollment program requires colleges to provide textbooks. These must be returned in useable condition to TMU/Point University at the end of the semester or the student will be responsible for paying a $75 fee to TMU/Point.
- Grades for Dual Enrollment courses are awarded by semester ONLY rather than two quarter/nine weeks averaged together. The quarter/nine-week grade will simply serve as a progress report. Grading in Dual Enrollment courses will continue throughout the semester/eighteen weeks of the course. NOTE: This is different from regular high school courses at PACS.
- Passing grades earned in Dual Enrollment courses at PACS will be awarded 10 extra numeric points and 1 extra quality point for GPA at the semester for determination of in-house honors and awards. This includes online courses approved by Prince Avenue.
- Any student that makes a TMU/Point University grade of D, F or I, in a Dual course will not be allowed to take the sequential dual course for sem. 2 and must enroll in the corresponding CP class here at Prince. A meeting with the Guidance Office is mandatory to determine if make-up work is needed in order to graduate on time. It is the recommendation of PACS administration that any student whose grade is a C, not take the sequential dual enrollment class sem.2 but rather enroll in the CP (college prep) corresponding class here at Prince.
- Dual Enrollment semester exams are determined by TMU/Point. There are no exam exemptions. TMU/Point course syllabuses will be adhered to by Prince.
- Upon graduation, you will need to request both your high school and college (TMU/Point) transcript be sent to the college you will be attending. For Prince transcript, fill out a “Transcript Request Form”/ For TMU/Point transcript, request one online from their respective websites
- Prince Avenue cannot guarantee how Dual enrollment courses will be counted in college. Each college is unique and has different requirements. Please check with the college you are planning to attend for their specific guidelines and “transfer equivalency” rules.
- Seniors taking Dual Enrollment classes may be required to return to school to take a final exam during the days between the last day of school for seniors and the end of the school year.
